Banco Nación Retail Dollar Quote Opens at 1,535 Pesos

Financial institutions across Argentina display varied pricing for the official retail dollar at the start of trading. Banco Hipotecario lists the lowest retail sale price at 1,529 pesos, while Banco BBVA registers the highest at 1,548 pesos, as reported by the Central Bank.

Other major banks establish their official retail selling rates within a narrow band. Banco Santander, Banco Patagonia, Banco Macro, Banco Credicoop, and Banco Comercio align at 1,540 pesos. Banco Supervielle lists the rate at 1,543 pesos.

Regional Market Gains Support Argentine Asset Performance

Favorable external market conditions and investor backing for the first-round election results in Brazil provide a positive backdrop for Argentine assets. The Bovespa index on the São Paulo Stock Exchange accumulated an 8.8 percent weekly gain to close at a record 209,017 points, supported by a nearly five percent appreciation of the Brazilian real.

Argentine equities track the regional momentum with moderate gains as the S&P Merval opens the week at 2,828,027 points following a 2.2 percent advance in pesos. American Depositary Receipts of Argentine companies show mixed results in New York trading. Loma Negra gains 9.4 percent and Mercado Libre rises 6.7 percent on positive earnings balances, while YPF drops 1.2 percent, Vista Energy declines 1.3 percent, and Grupo Galicia falls 1.1 percent.

Sovereign Bonds Drive Risk Indicator Below 600 Points

Dollar-denominated sovereign bonds, including Bonares and Globales, outperform domestic equities with an average three percent recovery. This fixed-income strength pushes the country risk indicator calculated by JP Morgan down by nearly 60 units to settle at 589 points.

The current risk level marks a 9.1 percent decrease from a prior close of 548 points on October 2 and sits 10 percent below the intradiary peak of 655 points recorded the previous week. Meanwhile, the wholesale dollar starts the session at 1,517 pesos, aided by the appreciation of the Brazilian real, while parallel market informal trading opens with the blue dollar at 1,540 pesos after declining 20 pesos over the preceding week.

Central Bank Accumulates Reserves During Five-Day Window

The Central Bank records purchases totaling 212 million dollars across the five trading sessions of the preceding week. Gross international reserves expand by 904 million dollars to reach 49.701 billion dollars, establishing the highest level recorded since September 17.

Monetary authorities maintain the upper boundary of the official exchange band system at 1,928.82 pesos. This leaves the current official exchange rate 311.82 pesos below the established limit, providing a 27.1 percent margin.
