A south Edmonton dealership reported that half a dozen vehicles were brought into their facility on April 15, 2026, with water discovered in their gas tanks. All of these vehicles had fueled up at the same station located in the Summerside area.
Station Location and Reported Failures
The affected fuel station is the Esso and Circle K convenience store located at the corner of Ellerslie Road and Summerside Drive, specifically at 8403 Ellerslie Rd. Drivers reported that their vehicles stopped running shortly after fueling at this location over a 24-hour period leading up to April 15, 2026.
Some drivers experienced total vehicle failure within minutes of leaving the station. Almira Acla reported that her son’s car stopped working shortly after fueling at the Ellerslie Road location. Acla stated that her son encountered another driver in a similar situation while attempting to move the vehicle to a parking lot.

Consumer Impact and Community Reports
Information regarding the contaminated fuel spread through a Summerside community Facebook group. Resident Emily Kucher reported hearing from multiple individuals that their cars were shuddering during startup or failing completely while driving home.
Kucher noted that lots of people filled up last night and are now dead this morning
in reference to the vehicles’ operational status.
On April 15, 2026, CTV News observed and reported that at least one pump at the Esso Circle K station was out of service.
