A 28-year-old man is in custody facing a murder charge following the discovery of a woman’s body last week in a Fort Worth apartment, police confirmed Sunday. The suspect, identified as Elijah Jordan Jacobo, is awaiting extradition to Fort Worth from El Paso County Jail.

Fort Worth Police found the body of Talia Alicia Nadine Sánchez, 26, in an apartment in the 7300 block of Harris Parkway around 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities were initially called to the residence to conduct a welfare check, police stated. Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered Sánchez’s body along with evidence suggesting a crime had been committed.

The case took a particularly distressing turn with the disappearance of Sánchez’s seven-month-old son, Levi. According to a GoFundMe account created by her family, Levi was missing. The infant was later found safe in New Mexico and has been returned to the care of his maternal grandparents.

Police believe Sánchez died during a domestic incident. Jacobo, identified as Levi’s father, was arrested on a murder charge in connection with Sánchez’s death. He is currently being held in El Paso County Jail pending extradition proceedings.

The arrest in El Paso followed a period of mounting concern from Sánchez’s family, who reported not hearing from her for several days. Family members were able to track her phone to her workplace, discovering it hidden behind a pillar in the parking garage. A welfare check was attempted on February 11th, but officers were unable to gain entry to the apartment until a warrant was obtained.

The discovery of Sánchez’s body and the subsequent search for Levi prompted an outpouring of support from the community. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to assist the family with funeral expenses and legal costs related to securing custody of the child.

This incident marks the second domestic homicide in Fort Worth within a short timeframe. On Friday, February 13, 2026, a mother was fatally stabbed by her 21-year-old son, according to police reports. Mirlande Ciprien, 51, was found dead at a residence in the 4800 block of Cargill Circle after officers responded to a call regarding an assault.

Local organizations are offering support to those affected by domestic violence. Genesis Women’s Shelter, based in Dallas, and The Family Place are collaborating with police to provide resources and assistance to victims. Genesis offers a 24/7 confidential hotline at 214-946-4357 (call or text). The Family Place can be reached at 214-941-1991. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is also available at 1-800-799-7233, by texting “START” to 88788, or visiting thehotline.org.

The case is ongoing, and investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses. The focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of Levi and providing support to the Sánchez family during this difficult time.
