Radio Nova has launched a promotional competition offering a cash prize of €36,700 for correctly identifying a mystery audio clip known as the “Nova Noise.” The jackpot amount was confirmed on April 21, 2026, and represents an increase from previous iterations of the contest, which had offered €36,600.
The competition invites listeners to guess the source of a distinctive sound that the station states was created indoors and for which video evidence will be released upon correct identification. Participants are required to call a specific phone number to submit their guesses, with the station explicitly stating that text messages or WhatsApp entries are not accepted.
According to the station’s guidelines, entrants have multiple opportunities each day to hear the noise and attempt to identify it. On weekdays, the audio clip is played four times: twice during the Morning Glory show with hosts PJ and Jim (following news headlines at 7:30 a.m. And 8:30 a.m.), once after the noon news with Marty @ Work, and again after the 5 p.m. News with Pat Courtenay on the drive home. On weekends, the noise is broadcast at noon on both Saturday and Sunday.
The station has provided a series of clues to assist participants in identifying the sound. These clues include references to a seed being planted, the phrase “Roll with it,” housekeeping themes, a Christmas-time mention of Santa stating that participants “might see this as much as you see me, this time of year,” suggestions that the contents could be beneficial for health, and a geographical note indicating that the source is not native to Asia, Spain, or Southern California.
To prevent duplicate or incorrect entries, Radio Nova maintains a publicly accessible list of previously submitted guesses, which currently contains over 6,500 incorrect attempts. Participants are encouraged to consult this list before submitting their own answers to ensure originality and specificity.
The audio file associated with the Nova Noise is available for streaming on the station’s website, allowing listeners to replay the sound at any time to aid in their identification efforts. The competition remains active until the correct answer is submitted via phone call.
