Mariners Tap Miller for Game 1 Start

Seattle Mariners manager Dan Wilson has announced that right-handed pitcher Bryce Miller, 27, will⁣ start Game ⁢1. Miller concluded the 2024 regular season ⁢with a 5.68 ‍ERA across 18 starts, totaling 90.1 innings pitched with 74⁣ strikeouts and 34 walks.

His most recent⁢ outing was in Game ⁢4 of the American League Division Series ⁣on October 9th against the Detroit Tigers, where he allowed four hits and two runs over 4.1 innings, recording two strikeouts.

However, miller struggled against⁢ the Blue Jays⁢ in his only regular-season appearance on May 11th, surrendering eight hits ⁣and seven runs over five ⁣innings.

Wilson is relying on Miller to provide valuable innings after a grueling 15-inning victory over the⁣ Tigers in game 5 of the ALDS on October 11th. Notably, the Mariners strategically deployed starting pitchers Logan Gilbert and Luis Castillo out of the bullpen during that marathon game ⁣to secure the win.

Gausman Answers⁣ for the Blue Jays

The Blue Jays will counter with their ace, Kevin Gausman. Gausman’s performance will be crucial as Toronto begins its pursuit of a World Series title.
