Co Wicklow businessman Fahid saleem, co-director of the award-winning Daata restaurant group, has ⁢stated⁤ he had “zero knowledge” that personal documents belonging to his wife’s orphaned cousin, migrant chef Mohammad Usman Ghani, were found during a pre-dawn Garda raid on his⁤ home ⁢last December.

Tribunal Hears of Documents Found in Pre-Dawn Raid

A pre-dawn Garda raid on the home of a leading restaurateur last december found personal documents belonging to a migrant chef⁢ who has said he was “never made aware” of a debit card in his name, a tribunal ⁣has heard.

Co Wicklow businessman Fahid Saleem, co-director of his family’s award-winning Pakistani curry house group, ⁣Daata, told the Workplace Relations ‍commission (WRC) he had “zero ⁤knowledge” that ⁣his wife had been given the ⁤documents belonging to the chef, her orphaned cousin Mohammad Usman Ghani.

Chef’s Documents and Debit⁣ Card Unaccounted For

Mr‍ Ghani,who has been working in Ireland for the past three years,claims he was never made aware of ⁢a debit card in his name,which was discovered by gardaí during the raid.

The tribunal heard ⁤that the documents, including a passport and a‍ debit card, were found in a drawer ⁢in Mr Saleem’s home. Mr Saleem stated that he was not aware ⁤of the documents being in his possession and that his wife, who is Mr Ghani’s cousin, was responsible for managing his affairs.

Restaurateur Claims Ignorance of ⁣Wife’s Actions

Mr Saleem told the WRC that he had “zero knowledge” that his wife had been given ⁤the documents belonging to Mr Ghani. He stated that his wife was responsible for managing Mr Ghani’s⁤ affairs, including his finances and personal documents.

“I had zero knowledge that my wife⁢ had been given these documents,” Mr Saleem told the⁣ tribunal. “She ⁢was managing his affairs, and I was not involved in that.”

Migrant Chef’s Concerns Raised at Tribunal

Mr Ghani, who has been working in ireland for the past three years, claims he was never made aware of the⁤ debit card in his name. He also stated that he had not been informed about the Garda raid on Mr Saleem’s home.

The tribunal heard that Mr Ghani had raised concerns about his financial affairs and the management of his personal documents with Mr Saleem’s wife.

Ongoing Examination and Future Proceedings

The tribunal is expected to ⁣continue hearing evidence in the coming weeks.The findings of the WRC will determine the next steps in the case.
