PGA tour Names NFL Executive Brian Rolapp as CEO
The PGA Tour is on the verge of appointing Brian Rolapp, a longtime NFL executive, as its inaugural chief executive officer. Rolapp,currently the NFL’s executive vice president and chief media and business officer,is the “clear favorite” for the position,according to reports. ESPN said Rolapp has accepted the job.
Rolapp has spent 22 years with the NFL, overseeing television contracts, digital media rights, sponsorships and relationships. he was once considered a potential successor to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Goodell reportedly informed NFL team executives Thursday of Rolapp’s departure.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan announced the search for a CEO in December 2024. The move follows the creation of PGA Tour Enterprises,a for-profit entity,and a $1.5 billion investment from Strategic Sports Group.
Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons and a PGA Tour Enterprises board member, led the CEO search committee.Tiger Woods and Adam scott, both player directors, were also involved in the interviews.
The PGA Tour sought an external candidate to enhance its presence amid growing competition from LIV Golf. Negotiations continue between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund,LIV Golf’s financial backer,for a potential investment in PGA Tour Enterprises.
