Simon-Pier Brunet Returns to QMJHL
Brunet will rejoin the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) after previously playing for the Drummondville Voltigeurs. The Sabres selected Brunet in the fifth round, 123rd of the 2024 NHL Draft. Last season with the Voltigeurs, he recorded eight goals and 32 points in 60 games, posting a +10 plus/minus rating. Merrimack College is his anticipated destination for the 2026-27 NCAA season, suggesting a patient development plan for the 19-year-old.
David Bedkowski Heads back to the OHL
Bedkowski will return to the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The 6’5″,220-pound defenseman,drafted 71st overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, is known for his physical play and fighting ability. In 30 games with the Attack last season, he registered three goals and seven points while accumulating 73 penalty minutes. His development timeline is projected to be longer than Brunet’s.
Samuel Meloche Returns to the QMJHL
Meloche will return to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL. The 18-year-old netminder was a third-round pick, 116th for the Sabres in the 2025 NHL Draft. Last season, Meloche excelled as the Huskies’ starting goaltender, posting a 30-14-6 record with a .900 save percentage and a 2.90 goals-against average in 51 games, including five shutouts. He has committed to Northeastern University for the 2026-27 NCAA season.
