14-Year-Old Eghosa Ogbebor Shot Dead in South-East London; Three Arrested

A 14-year-old boy has been named as Eghosa Ogbebor following a fatal shooting in Woolwich, south-east London, on April 2, 2026.
The Metropolitan Police received reports of the shooting on Lord Warwick Street at approximately 15:40 BST on April 2. Paramedics treated the boy at the scene, but he was pronounced dead.
Three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. The suspects include two boys, aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man.
Witness accounts and scene details
The shooting occurred on a residential street located near the Woolwich Dockyard train station. Witnesses at The Greyhound, a nearby pub, reported hearing gunshots, causing customers on the patio to run inside in panic.
Sofia Pereira, a worker at the pub, stated that she heard a loud noise and saw someone fall onto one of the bins on the patio. She reported seeing a teenager run through the patio toward Woolwich Church Street.
Pereira noted that customers were frightened because they heard shooting and believed one of the individuals involved had a machete, or something like that
.
Police cordoned off the area surrounding Lord Warwick Street on April 3, with a dozen officers remaining at the scene.
Official responses
DCI Lucie Card stated that specially trained officers are supporting the family of Eghosa Ogbebor and noted that the family has requested privacy.
I know the concern this has caused within Woolwich and the wider community, particularly considering Eghosa’s young age. We have an increased police presence around the area. While we have made three arrests, our investigation continues and I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and speak to officers.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, described the shooting as appalling
and stated that there is absolutely no place for this heartbreaking violence
.
Khan confirmed he is in close contact with the Metropolitan Police, who have been working around the clock on the investigation.
