Emergency services in San Luis Potosí have responded to a major fire at a plastics company located within the city’s Industrial Zone, resulting in the evacuation of approximately 200 people.

The incident triggered a massive mobilization of emergency crews to contain the blaze and manage the resulting smoke, which prompted authorities to advise residents in the vicinity to shelter in place.

Emergency Response and Evacuations

The fire at the plastics plant necessitated a large-scale evacuation operation to ensure public safety. According to reports from La Jornada and oem.com.mx, roughly 200 individuals were moved away from the facility as the fire intensified.

Multiple emergency bodies were deployed to the scene to combat the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent facilities within the Industrial Zone. Local news outlets, including El Universal and Pulso Diario San Luis, confirmed that the mobilization involved various rescue and firefighting units.

Due to the volume of smoke generated by the burning plastics, Código San Luis reported that officials requested people in the surrounding areas to remain indoors and take precautions against the air quality risks associated with the smoke plume.
