Riot Games has released Patch 1.1.5 for 2XKO on April 7, 2026, introducing the new champion Akali and a Local Duos game mode. The update arrives as the developer reveals a refreshed 2026 roadmap that outlines the addition of six new champions by the end of the year to address player concerns regarding the game’s initial roster size.
Akali and Patch 1.1.5 Feature Set
Akali, designated as the Rogue Assassin, joined the roster on April 7. Her gameplay kit centers on a flurry of blades and the use of Twilight Shroud, a smoke bomb mechanic designed to empower her other moves and facilitate high-speed attacks.
Players can acquire Akali through several methods. She is available immediately for 1,000 KO Points or one Champion Token. Riot Games has implemented a Champion Recruitment Event lasting three weeks, allowing players to unlock her for free. Once this event concludes, Akali will be available for 10,000 Credits.
To assist with onboarding, all champions remain available to all users in Training and Offline modes regardless of whether they have been purchased.
The patch also introduces Local Duos mode, available on all platforms as of April 7. This mode allows two players to play together online using a single device and two controllers. Progress made while playing in Local Duo mode, including Champion Mastery and champion-specific missions, applies to the account of the player using the device.
Other content included in the April 7 update consists of a Spirit Blossom event and a corresponding Spirit Blossom Megabundle, as well as a series of showstopper skins.
2026 Roadmap and Future Development
Alongside the patch, Riot Games updated its 2026 roadmap, confirming that six new champions are planned for release before the end of the year. While the specific identities of all six have not been revealed, the roadmap confirms Akali, Caitlyn, and Senna.

Caitlyn has already been released, and Senna is confirmed for a later date in 2026. Three additional characters remain unrevealed.
Beyond character additions, the roadmap includes the introduction of a dedicated Duo Finder scheduled for May 2026 and a new Fuse system intended to modify the tag-team fighter meta.
Operational Context and Industry Challenges
The push for a larger roster follows feedback from the player base regarding the game’s relatively small starting cast. However, the development timeline may be impacted by internal organizational changes. In February 2026, the development team underwent downsizing via layoffs, which may result in some content taking longer than originally expected to arrive.
The release of Patch 1.1.5 coincided with Evo Japan, with Riot Games maintaining a presence at the tournament to support the community during the Akali launch.
The game remains available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. For console players, the developer notes that Offline mode is accessible by disconnecting from the internet before launching the 2XKO client.
