The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters has issued a formal warning to the public against organizing celebratory marches or gatherings without prior approval from the relevant authorities. The police force emphasized that adhering to laws and regulations is essential to maintain public safety and prevent behaviors that could endanger lives and property.

According to the Abu Dhabi Police, organizing events through legal channels is necessary to enhance security and ensure the smooth flow of traffic. The authorities have encouraged community members to cooperate and report any violations as a reflection of social responsibility and awareness.

Traffic Violations and Penalties

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police specifically highlighted the dangers associated with random marches and gatherings on public roads. The police warned against unsafe behaviors, such as passengers leaning out of vehicle windows or sunroofs, which are classified as traffic violations.

Under Article 1 of the applicable regulations, driving a vehicle in a manner that endangers the life, safety, or security of the driver or others carries a penalty of Dh2,000, 23 traffic points, and the impoundment of the vehicle for 60 days.

the police cited Article 94 of the Federal Traffic Law regarding unauthorized parades. Vehicles participating in parades without a permit or outside of authorized circumstances are subject to a fine of Dh500 and 4 traffic points. For light vehicles, this violation also results in a 15-day vehicle impoundment.

Guidelines for Safe Celebrations

In addition to the warnings regarding unauthorized rallies, the Abu Dhabi Police have established strict guidelines for motorists to ensure orderly celebrations. These rules cover vehicle modifications, passenger safety, and road conduct.

Guidelines for Safe Celebrations
  • Vehicle Decorations: Decorations must not alter the original colors of the vehicle, and vehicles must not be overloaded.
  • Content Restrictions: The placement of inappropriate stickers or the writing of offensive phrases on vehicles is strictly prohibited.
  • License Plates: Both front and back license plates must remain visible and cannot be obscured or covered.
  • Window and Windshield Coverings: It is illegal to use stickers or front sunshades to cover the front, rear, or side windows of a vehicle.
  • Use of Sprays: The use of any type of spray by pedestrians, passengers, or motorists is prohibited. Violators using party sprays may be fined Dh1,000 and receive 6 traffic points.

The police also prohibited reckless driving and the performance of stunts. Regarding passenger safety, the authorities stated that passengers must be securely seated inside the vehicle and are prohibited from riding on top of a car or on the trunk of a pickup truck.

Motorists are advised to reduce their speed near pedestrian crossings and exercise caution in areas near tourist spots and parks. Motorcycle users are specifically advised to wear helmets, use protective clothing, and ensure their vehicles are safe, with particular attention to tires and headlights.

Regional Enforcement

Similar enforcement measures have been observed in other emirates. Sharjah Police have previously announced that motorists joining unauthorized National Day rallies or processions without permits would face a Dh500 fine and four traffic points. In one instance on January 30, 2026, Sharjah Police reported the seizure of eight vehicles for performing dangerous stunts during such events.
