Antena 3 continued its dominance of Spanish television in April, maintaining its lead in audience share for the 21st consecutive month. The network achieved an average screen share of 12.6%, according to data released on Wednesday. La 1 followed with 11.6%—a slight decrease from March—and Telecinco secured third place with 9.1%.

Cuatro and La Sexta were closely tied with a 6% share each, with La Sexta edging ahead by a small margin as of April 29th. Both channels experienced minor declines—0.2% for Cuatro and 0.5% for La Sexta—but maintained their respective positions. Collectively, regional channels accounted for 8.5% of the viewership, while La 2 held steady at 3.1%.

El Hormiguero Leads Entertainment Programming

Highlighting Antena 3’s success, El Hormiguero emerged as the most-watched entertainment program on Spanish television in April. The program registered the largest viewership gap compared to its closest competitor in the same time slot, La Revuelta.

Tu cara me suena also performed strongly, securing a place among the top programs with a 20.9% share. Notably, Una fiesta de muerte debuted in the top five with a 12.8% share, becoming the highest-rated entertainment premiere since 2024.

TVE Sees Improvements in Several Programs

Within TVE, several programs experienced historical improvements in their viewership. La Hora de La 1, Mañaneros 360 I and II, Directo al grano, Malas Lenguas, and Aquí la tierra all achieved record ratings within their respective time slots. La 1 also led the morning programming block, achieving its highest share in 18 years.

Despite these gains, news programs remained the most-watched content overall. Viewers had to reach the 38th position in the ranking of most-watched broadcasts (excluding sports events) to find an entertainment program—El Hormiguero (Antena 3, 14.4% and 1.9 million viewers) and Barrio Esperanza (La 1, 15.3% and 1.6 million viewers).

Antena 3 News Continues to Dominate

Antena 3’s news programs continued their long-standing dominance, maintaining the top spot for 76 consecutive months with an 18.7% share. A3 Noticias 1 was the most-watched news program achieving a 23% share and attracting 2.072 million viewers. La 1 followed with a 14.4% share, and Telecinco secured third place with 8.3%.
