Apollo Sports Capital (ASC), teh global sports investment company of Apollo, has reached an agreement to become the majority shareholder of Atlético de Madrid, according to an official announcement on November 11, 2025 from Apollo. The deal involves current major shareholders Miguel Ángel Gil, Enrique Cerezo, Quantum Pacific Group, and Ares Management funds.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. ASC and the existing shareholders will collaborate with Atlético de Madrid’s management team to strengthen the club’s financial position, improve its sporting performance, and increase its community impact.
Future Investments and Development
The shareholder group plans to invest additional capital in Atlético de Madrid’s long-term initiatives,including its teams and major infrastructure projects. A key project is the development of the Ciudad del Deporte, a new sports and entertainment district next to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium as detailed by Apollo.
