Apple Foldable iPhone Ultra Could Cost Over $2,000

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a foldable device, rumored to be named the iPhone Ultra, which is expected to become the most expensive iPhone in the company’s history. Reporting from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicates that the device is expected to cross the $2,000 threshold in the United States.

While it remains unclear if the $2,000 figure represents the starting price or only the higher-end configurations, the device would surpass the current most expensive model, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which costs $1,999 when configured with 2TB of storage.

Projected Pricing and Storage Tiers

Different reports offer varying perspectives on the exact pricing structure. Macworld reports that the iPhone Ultra could start at $1,999 for a model with 256GB of storage. Based on predicted pricing tiers, the costs for the device could be as follows:

• 512GB: $2,199
• 1TB: $2,399

Further projections based on iPhone 17 Pro Max price tiers suggest that if the device starts at $1,999, a maximum configuration with 2TB of storage could cost as much as $2,799.

Additional leaks from the Weibo platform via Instant Digital suggest Chinese pricing of RMB 15,999 for 256GB, RMB 17,999 for 512GB and RMB 19,999 for 1TB. While direct currency conversion would place the 256GB model at approximately $2,330, analysts note that Apple typically does not use strict conversion rates for overseas territories.

Hardware Specifications and Design

The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a book-style folding design, providing a larger screen for multitasking, gaming, and video consumption. The device is reported to have a 7.7-inch inner display and a 5.3-inch outer display.

Technical specifications reportedly include 12GB of RAM supplied by Samsung. Regarding the display technology, while early rumors suggested a virtually crease-free screen, subsequent reports indicate that Apple is using technology that reduces the crease without eliminating it entirely.

The device’s security and camera array will also differ from current Pro models. The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a Touch ID power button instead of Face ID. The camera system is rumored to consist of two rear cameras and one front camera.
