Because of this electric car, Chery Cuan Big In IIMS 2025
Chinese Auto Giant Chery Makes Big Waves at Indonesia International Motor Show 2025
Jakarta – PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has made significant strides at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025, held at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta, from February 13 to 23. The Chinese automotive brand has seen a surge in sales, particularly driven by the demand for their latest electric vehicle, the J6.
The success of Chery at IIMS 2025 is a testament to the growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs) globally. The J6 model, in particular, has been a standout performer, attracting a significant number of orders. Regional Sales Manager of PT CSI, Winawan Willy Winawan, spoke to the media at the IIMS 2025 Arena on February 21, 2025, highlighting the company’s impressive performance.
“If our SPK (Vehicle Order Letter) continues to rise. Our SPK’s target this year is one and a half times from last year,”
Winawan Willy Winawan
Winawan Willy Winawan noted that the company has already recorded over 800 units in orders, surpassing the numbers from IIMS 2024. With the event still ongoing until February 23, the numbers are expected to rise further. The J6 model has been a significant contributor to Chery’s success, accounting for approximately 40% of the total orders.
The J6’s popularity can be attributed to its unique design and premium features. According to Willy, the car’s boxy design and advanced features make it a strong competitor in the premium car segment. He also mentioned that the J6’s price point is competitive, making it an attractive option for consumers.
In addition to the J6, other models like the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 8, and a mix of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and EV models have also contributed to Chery’s success. The Tiggo Cross, for instance, was officially priced at Rp 239 million (approximately $14,000 USD) at the show, making it an affordable option for many buyers.
Cumulatively, the Chery J6 has garnered over 2,000 units in orders and has already been delivered to more than 300 consumers. To further incentivize buyers, Chery is offering a lifetime warranty program for the first 1,000 buyers of the J6, which includes coverage for batteries, motor power, and power controller power.
This surge in sales is not just a local phenomenon. Globally, the EV market is experiencing unprecedented growth. In the U.S., for example, the demand for EVs has been rising steadily, with major automakers like Tesla, Ford, and General Motors investing heavily in electric vehicle technology. The success of Chery in Indonesia mirrors this global trend, indicating a growing consumer preference for sustainable and technologically advanced vehicles.
One potential counterargument to the success of EVs is the concern over charging infrastructure. However, advancements in battery technology and the increasing number of charging stations are addressing these concerns. In the U.S., the Biden administration has allocated significant funds to expand the charging network, making EV ownership more feasible for many Americans.
Another area of interest is the environmental impact of EVs. While EVs are generally considered more eco-friendly than traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, the production and disposal of batteries remain a challenge. Companies like Chery are investing in research to develop more sustainable battery solutions, which could further boost consumer confidence in EVs.
In conclusion, the success of Chery at IIMS 2025 highlights the growing demand for electric vehicles and the potential for Chinese automakers to make a significant impact in the global market. As the EV market continues to evolve, companies like Chery are well-positioned to capitalize on this trend, offering innovative and sustainable solutions to consumers worldwide.
