Belgian postal operator Bpost has ended its weeks-long strike after reaching an agreement with unions on implementing the company’s transformation plan, marking a significant development in Belgium’s labor relations and postal services sector.
The deal was struck on Thursday evening, April 16, 2026, and is expected to see work resume across the country from Friday, April 17, 2026, according to multiple verified sources. Federal Minister of Government Enterprises Vanessa Matz expressed satisfaction with the agreement, thanking the various parties for opting for reconciliation for the benefit of the company, employees, and customers.

The majority of postmen and postwomen will start their rounds between 9am and 10am, rather than the earlier 6am to 7am start times that had been a point of contention during negotiations.
Bpost said this concession would help workers manage family commitments, such as collecting children from school, addressing one of the key concerns raised by striking employees. The agreement also includes provisions for employees to keep their regular delivery rounds, while meal vouchers will increase by €2.
