Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility following an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in March.

A representative for the 44-year-old pop star confirmed the decision to ABC News on April 12, 2026. While the representative did not disclose the specific location or the nature of the treatment, TMZ reported that Spears entered a rehabilitation facility in the United States for substance abuse involving drugs and alcohol.

March DUI Arrest in Ventura County

The move into treatment comes approximately one month after Spears was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol on March 4, 2026. According to records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, officers stopped Spears while she was operating a BMW 430i that had been reported for high-speed and erratic driving.

Authorities stated that Spears was the sole occupant of the vehicle and showed signs of impairment. She underwent a series of field sobriety tests at the scene. A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol told Rolling Stone that Spears was arrested for a violation of California Vehicle Code section 23152(g), which pertains to driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol.
