Sledgehammer Games has deployed an update to Call of Duty: Vanguard that retires the Vanguard Clans multiplayer feature across all platforms.
The removal of the Clans feature would have previously prevented players from earning a specific achievement. To address this, the developer modified the requirements for the Hello There
achievement, which is now granted to players upon starting the game’s Campaign.
Cross-Platform Integration
Alongside the retirement of the Clans feature, the update introduced expanded connectivity for the title. Cross-play has been enabled between the console versions of Call of Duty: Vanguard and the PC version available on Steam.
This update ensures that the technical infrastructure supports multiplayer interaction between these different hardware ecosystems, allowing Steam users to play with those on consoles.
Achievement Preservation
The adjustment to the achievement system is a significant detail for players pursuing full game completion. In many gaming ecosystems, the retirement of a specific feature can lead to achievements becoming unobtainable, effectively locking players out of 100 percent completion milestones.
By shifting the trigger for the Hello There
achievement from the multiplayer Clans feature to the Campaign, Sledgehammer Games has ensured that the trophy or achievement remains unlockable despite the removal of the original requirement.
The Vanguard Clans feature has been retired. The “Hello There” achievement has been changed to now unlock upon starting the Campaign.
