Casey’s General Stores has distributed more than $1.3 million through its Cash for Classrooms program, awarding 100 grants to K–12 public and nonprofit private schools across 17 states, the company confirmed in an announcement released on April 17, 2026.
The annual initiative, now in its sixth year, provides individual grants of up to $15,000 to support educational projects, classroom resources, and student learning initiatives in communities where Casey’s operates convenience stores. This year’s funding represents the largest single-year disbursement in the program’s history, surpassing the $1.1 million awarded in 2025.
Grants were awarded to schools in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Texas. Selection was based on applications submitted by educators and school administrators, with priority given to projects focused on STEM education, literacy programs, and classroom technology upgrades.
“Cash for Classrooms reflects our commitment to investing in the futures of the students and educators who live and work in the neighborhoods we serve,” said Darren Rebelez, President and CEO of Casey’s General Stores, in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Each grant represents a direct investment in local learning environments, helping teachers bring innovative ideas to life without relying on personal funds or strained school budgets.”
The program is funded through corporate contributions and customer donations collected at Casey’s stores via round-up initiatives at the register and in-store fundraising events. Since its launch in 2021, Cash for Classrooms has awarded over $5.2 million in total grants to more than 450 schools across the Midwest and Southeast United States.
Casey’s, headquartered in Ankeny, Iowa, operates over 2,400 convenience stores under the Casey’s and Casey’s General Store banners in 12 states. The company reported $14.3 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025, according to its annual filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Applications for the 2027 Cash for Classrooms cycle will open in September 2026, with award announcements expected in early 2027. Educators and school administrators can submit proposals through the company’s official website, where guidelines and eligibility criteria are published annually.
