Corey Graves, a familiar voice to WWE fans, is adding college professor to his resume. The Monroeville, Pennsylvania native has begun teaching ‘Live Sports Production’ at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, a role that allows him to share his extensive broadcasting experience with the next generation of sports storytellers.

Graves, who continues his duties as a commentator for WWE, now leads a weekly three-hour course. This venture marks a significant step for the former in-ring competitor, providing a platform to impart knowledge gained from calling matches for NXT and WWE’s main roster across various networks and streaming platforms.

The opportunity arose after Graves previously spoke to Point Park’s broadcasting department, leading to a formal offer to teach. He emphasized the supportive environment fostered by TKO, WWE’s parent company, noting a shift in policy that allows talent greater freedom to pursue outside endeavors. “TKO has seemingly been a lot more open to collaboration and allowing talent to step outside WWE, more so than the old WWE regime,” Graves explained. “Anybody who works for WWE has had an opportunity of some sort that they’ve had to turn down because they couldn’t get permission, or it was a conflict of interest.” He clarified that his course is focused on broadcasting principles, not specifically wrestling, which facilitated the approval process.

Graves’ broadcasting journey wasn’t a direct path to the global stage of WWE. He had a brief stint in radio broadcasting between his time on the independent wrestling circuit and his debut in NXT. This early experience, he believes, provides valuable perspective for his students.

A core tenet of Graves’ teaching philosophy centers on the art of storytelling. He stresses that effective sports broadcasting transcends simply calling the play-by-play; it’s about crafting a narrative that resonates with viewers on an emotional level. “Vin Scully wasn’t a baseball commentator. He was a storyteller,” Graves said. “You didn’t have to open your eyes. You could envision the park and see the sunset and where the players were at. That’s an art and that’s the art of broadcasting.”

He aims to equip his students with the ability to connect with an audience, to make them care about the athletes and the events unfolding before them. “I think having a wealth of experience doing that, it’s quite literally what I do. Make you like somebody; make you hate somebody. It’s not exclusive to wrestling, but broadcasting can be anything, online, radio, TV. The business has changed so much.”

The course at Point Park comes at a time of significant evolution in the sports broadcasting landscape. The rise of streaming platforms and the increasing demand for diverse content creation require broadcasters to be adaptable and skilled in multiple formats. Graves’ experience navigating this changing environment provides valuable insight for aspiring professionals.

While details of the course curriculum haven’t been extensively publicized, the focus on storytelling and emotional connection suggests a practical, hands-on approach. Graves’ own career demonstrates the power of these elements in captivating an audience, and he’s now dedicated to passing that knowledge on to a new generation of broadcasters. His ability to build compelling narratives has been instrumental in his success within WWE, and he intends to translate those skills into a classroom setting.

As of February 4, 2026, Graves continues to balance his responsibilities as a WWE commentator with his new role at Point Park University. The AEW Collision broadcast on January 31, 2026, drew nearly 500,000 viewers on cable television, demonstrating the continued demand for live wrestling content, a market Graves remains deeply involved in while simultaneously shaping the future of sports broadcasting education.
