Airbus has entered into an agreement to acquire Quarkslab, a French cybersecurity company, in a move that strengthens its position as a trusted partner for French authorities and expands its presence in the European cybersecurity landscape.
The acquisition, announced on April 21, 2026, marks the second cybersecurity deal signed by Airbus Defence and Space in less than a month, following its purchase of Germany’s Infodas in March 2024. Quarkslab, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Paris and Rennes, employs approximately 100 people and has been backed by Tikehau Capital since 2020.
The company specializes in protecting critical assets, data, and users from cyberattacks and offers QShield, a solution designed to defend software against AI threats, safeguard sensitive information and code, and secure edge components in defence and aerospace systems from reverse engineering by attackers or AI.
François Lombard, Head of Connected Intelligence at Airbus Defence and Space, stated that Quarkslab’s expertise will integrate into Airbus’s growing cyber activities and help build a resilient, sovereign cyber player in France and across Europe.
“This acquisition will strengthen our ability to build the digital shield required to help keep our home nations and allies ahead in the cyber-security domain,” Lombard said.
Fred Raynal, CEO and founder of Quarkslab, noted that returning to Airbus — where he began his professional career in cybersecurity — allows him to expand the reach of Quarkslab’s technology.
The transaction remains subject to consultation with social partners and customary regulatory approvals, with closing expected during 2026.
