Bollywood actress and dancer Daisy Shah has detailed a disturbing encounter with a filmmaker from the South Indian film industry during the early stages of her career. In an interview with the Free Press Journal, Shah described a casting meeting in Mumbai where she was subjected to inappropriate physical contact.
According to Shah, the incident occurred while she was attending an audition for a South Indian film. She was among a group of six or seven girls who had gone to meet the director. The filmmaker conducted the auditions by meeting each candidate individually.
During her individual meeting, Shah stated that the director touched her inappropriately and held her hand. She expressed that this behavior made her feel extremely uncomfortable
and noted that she has a general aversion to being touched by others, regardless of whether the person is a man or a woman.
I’ve always been apprehensive about people touching me. The reason why I don’t get massages is because I don’t like being touched, even by a woman… by a man is a different story altogether. So that just put me off. I told him ‘I will get back to you’ but I never did.

Shah chose not to disclose the identity of the filmmaker in her account. She revealed that following the encounter, she ceased all contact with the individual.
Impact on Personal Safety and Vigilance
The actress noted that this experience served as a critical lesson regarding personal safety. She stated that the incident made her realize the importance of never attending meetings for new work opportunities alone.

Shah explained that facing such a situation early in her professional journey made her more vigilant moving forward. She emphasized the belief that an individual’s safety ultimately lies in their own hands.
Career Context and Public Perception
Daisy Shah began her career in the entertainment industry as an assistant to choreographer Ganesh Acharya and worked as a background dancer in various Bollywood productions. She eventually transitioned into acting, making her lead debut in Kannada cinema with the films Bodyguard and Bhadra.
She gained wider recognition in Bollywood following her debut opposite Salman Khan in the 2014 film Jai Ho. Her filmography also includes the 2015 movie Hate Story 3, and she has appeared in various television programs and dance reality shows.
