Delaware Division of the Arts Opens New Grant Applications for Residents

The Delaware Division of the Arts is seeking public input to shape the distribution of arts funding over the next five years, according to reporting from WHYY. This initiative follows a period of significant investment in the state’s creative sector, including the awarding of nearly $5.1 million across 326 grants during Fiscal Year 2025.

The effort to gather public opinion arrives as the state manages its annual grant cycles for individual artists, schools, and nonprofit organizations. These funds are designed to support the production, presentation, and teaching of the arts across Delaware’s counties.

Fiscal Year 2027 Grant Opportunities

The Delaware Division of the Arts has opened the application process for Fiscal Year 2027 grants. These grants are intended to support programming and projects scheduled to take place from September 2026 through August 2027.

Applications must be submitted through the smARTDE online system. The deadline for these submissions is 4:30 p.m. EST on March 2, 2026.

Eligible applicants include individual artists, government entities, schools, and nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations that are chartered and based in Delaware. To qualify, recipients must be in good standing with the Delaware Division of Revenue and the Delaware Division of Corporations, and they must maintain a current registration in the Delaware eSupplier portal.

Available Grant Categories

The Division offers several specific funding streams tailored to different needs within the arts community:

• General Operating Support (GOS): This category provides support for annual operating expenses to ensure year-round arts participation for Delaware residents. GOS utilizes a three-year application cycle, requiring full applications every three years and interim applications during the off years.
• Arts Stabilization (ASF): Funded through the Arts Consortium of Delaware, Inc. (ArtCo) endowment, these grants support improvements to facilities that are owned or under long-term lease by the operating organization.
• Education Resource (EDR): These grants are designed to strengthen standards-based arts education projects, and activities. They aim to utilize the resources of the Delaware arts community or increase the capacity of arts organizations to serve as professional development resources for educators and teaching artists.

Applications for GOS, ASF, and EDR grants opened on December 5, 2025, with the deadline set for March 2, 2026.
