Egypt and Angola are actively working to​ deepen their bilateral relationship, with ‌a particular focus on expanding ⁢economic and political cooperation. This commitment was underscored during‍ a phone conversation on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, between ​Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr ‍Abdelatty and his Angolan counterpart, Tete Antonio, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of ⁢Foreign ⁤Affairs.

Cairo intends‍ to actively promote increased involvement of Egyptian businesses in Angola’s growing market, ⁤building ⁤upon ‍existing partnerships. Opportunities are notably promising ⁢in crucial sectors like infrastructure progress, energy,⁤ and telecommunications, leveraging the proven capabilities ‌of Egyptian companies‍ in delivering large-scale projects‍ throughout⁢ Africa.

Egypt also expressed strong support for Angola’s current leadership role as chair of the ⁣African Union (AU). Angola is navigating meaningful challenges related to peace, security, and sustainable development ‍across the continent. Egypt affirmed its commitment to close collaboration with Luanda, both within ‍the⁤ AU‍ framework and in other international organizations, including reciprocal support for each nation’s diplomatic initiatives.

Preparations for the upcoming Africa-European Union ‍summit, scheduled to ⁣take place in Luanda, Angola, on November 24-25, 2025, were also a key topic of discussion. Both ministers emphasized the importance of a prosperous summit‍ that prioritizes African interests, particularly in addressing critical issues such as⁣ peace‍ and security, combating terrorism, and fostering inclusive and sustainable development.
