Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the legendary League of Legends (LoL) professional gamer, will become the first e-sports player to be featured on a commemorative postage stamp. The Postal Service Headquarters of the Ministry of Science and ICT announced on April 6, 2026, that the stamp will be issued in October.

The announcement was made through the Additional Commemorative Stamp Issue Notice. This move marks a significant milestone for the e-sports industry, as it is the first time a professional gamer has been honored with a commemorative stamp in South Korea.

A Series of National Honors

The stamp issuance follows other high-level national recognitions for the 30-year-old athlete. On January 2, 2026, Lee received the Cheongryong Medal, also known as the Blue Dragon Medal, which is the highest grade of the Order of Sports Merit. The medal was presented by President Lee Jae-myung during a New Year reception at the Blue House State Guesthouse, with First Lady Kim Hye-kyung in attendance.

The Cheongryong Medal has historically been reserved for world champions and Olympic gold medalists who have dominated their respective fields, such as soccer star Son Heung-min, figure skating legend Kim Yuna, and archery champion Kim Woo-jin. Lee was awarded the honor for his outstanding meritorious services in elevating the international reputation of South Korea through e-sports.

Career Achievements and Legacy

Since his professional debut in 2013, Lee Sang-hyeok has established himself as one of the greatest players in e-sports history. His career is marked by an unprecedented level of longevity and success in a field where active professional careers are typically short.

Career Achievements and Legacy

His competitive resume includes:

  • Six World Championship titles, won in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
  • An unprecedented three-peat of World Championship titles from 2023 to 2025.
  • 10 LCK titles.
  • Two Mid-Season Invitational victories.
  • Representing the South Korean national team at the 2018 and 2023 Asian Games.

Now in his 14th year as a professional, Lee continues to compete at the highest level. He has secured his future with his team, T1, by signing a four-year contract extension that runs through 2029.

Public Feedback Period

The Ministry of Science and ICT has established a window for public feedback regarding the issuance of the commemorative stamp. Objections can be submitted via e-mail to the stamp official at the Postal Business Division of the Postal Service Headquarters.

The official objection period begins on April 6, 2026, and will run through April 25, 2026.
