The Africa Cup of Nations football final is anticipated by millions. The match, pitting Senegal against Morocco, will take place on Sunday, January 18th at 8:00 PM. Supporters plan to celebrate a potential victory with gatherings in the streets. However, Prefect Paul Mourier of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Côte-d’Or region issued a restriction order “to prevent any disturbance to public order and also damage to property and persons.”
As an inevitable result, from noon on Sunday, January 15th to 8:00 AM on Monday, January 19th, the following are prohibited within the Dijon metropolitan area:
- The purchase and sale, in all places, of entertainment fireworks of categories F2 and F3
- The possession, transport, and use of these fireworks on public roads or towards public spaces
The department of Yonne is also affected. Prefect Pascal Jan prohibits the purchase, sale, transport, or use of entertainment fireworks, pyrotechnic articles, explosive products, domestic fuels, or petroleum and flammable or corrosive products. The order will take effect from 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 18th to 8:00 AM on Monday, January 19th.
These measures “aim to guarantee the safety of all,” the prefecture of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region states. “The prefecture relies on the civic responsibility of everyone.”
