Free Summer Movies Return to Downtown Rockford with Coronado Theatre’s Coronado Summer Cinema Series for Families

Free summer movies will return to downtown Rockford as the Coronado Theatre launches its Coronado Summer Cinema series for 2026. The historic venue at 314 N. Main Street will host two family-friendly screenings this summer, offering free admission to the public for blockbuster films on the big screen.

The series kicks off on Saturday, June 13, with a screening of Wicked: For Good. Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and the movie begins at 3:00 p.m. The second feature, Zootopia 2, will follow on Saturday, July 11, with the same timing: doors at 1:30 p.m. And the film starting at 3:00 p.m.

Admission to both events is free and open to all attendees. While the movies themselves carry no cost, food will be available for purchase from on-site vendors, and some pre-movie activities may require separate participation fees. Guests are encouraged to bring both cash and card for these transactions.

The Coronado Theatre permits limited outside food and non-alcoholic drinks to be brought into the venue. However, alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Accessible seating compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on each movie day.
