Atlanta-based rapper BunnaB is transitioning from digital virality to a sustained presence in the hip-hop industry, leveraging a series of breakout hits and high-profile collaborations to establish a distinct legacy within her hometown’s musical tradition.

Born Ereunna McCoy, the Gen-Z artist began her rap career in 2020. Her trajectory shifted significantly five years later with the release of Bunna Summa, a playful track that became a viral anthem. The song followed the release of her first official project, Ice Cream Summer.

The unexpected success of the track prompted McCoy to release a deluxe version of the project named after the song. Reflecting on the song’s rise, BunnaB noted that she originally created the track during a live session and had not finished it before public interest grew.

“I didn’t think it would get that type of attention,” she reflects on the anthem. “I was really shocked because it’s like a song… I won’t say I wasn’t interested in that song… I did it on live, and I didn’t finish it.”

Following the momentum of 2025, BunnaB expanded her professional reach through features on albums by Atlanta veteran Jermaine Dupri and Grammy-nominated producer Metro Boomin. She further solidified her position in the scene with the release of the Sweet Lick mixtape before the end of that year.

Collaborations and Creative Process

BunnaB has prioritized collaborative growth over competition, partnering with other emerging artists to broaden her sound. She has worked with fellow Atlanta newcomer Y.K. Niece on several songs and collaborated with South Carolina artist Trim on the Boat Remix, a track featuring both Trim, and Y.K. Niece.

“It feels good to collab with people, especially on songs that you like,” details Bunna, adding, “Most times people think it’s a competition, but when they see multiple of y’all winning, it’s better.”

The rapper describes a methodical approach to her studio work, emphasizing the importance of preparation and delivery. She writes her lyrics before entering the recording booth, focusing on how the audience will perceive specific parts of the song and deciding whether to experiment with her delivery or stick to her established sound.

BunnaB’s musical style is characterized by a singsong delivery, witty rhymes, and a vibrant aesthetic that echoes previous decades of Atlanta music. Her drive is partly attributed to her family background; as the second-oldest in a generation of 10 siblings, she cites a commitment to ensuring those following her are supported.

Currently, the artist is moving into an album phase of her career and has recently been supporting YFN Lucci on a cross-country tour.
