Google has unveiled Workspace Intelligence, a new AI-powered system designed to provide personalized, context-aware assistance across its Workspace applications, including Gmail, Docs, and Meet. Announced at Google Cloud Next 2026, the feature leverages advanced Gemini reasoning to understand complex semantic relationships between user data, active projects, collaborators, and organizational knowledge.
Workspace Intelligence functions as a background intelligence layer that gathers relevant information from across a user’s digital workflow, ensuring they have the right context when taking action in any Workspace app. It enables capabilities such as AI Overviews in Gmail, which summarize email threads, and “Ask Gemini” in Google Chat, positioned as a unified command line for work-related tasks.
The system is designed to deliver true personalization by learning individual work styles, communication patterns, voice, and formatting preferences over time. This allows outputs to sound authentically like the user, whether drafting emails, generating meeting notes, or creating documents.
In addition to Workspace Intelligence, Google announced the TPU 8t and TPU 8i chips, its eighth-generation Tensor Processing Units optimized for AI inference and training. These chips were introduced alongside the new AI features and are intended to support the increased computational demands of advanced AI models across Google Cloud and Workspace services.
