Elon University’s softball team dropped the rubber game of its three-game series against Campbell on April 19, 2026, losing 5-2 at Campbell’s home field in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
The Phoenix were led offensively by junior outfielder Hatzopoulos, who recorded two of the team’s four hits in the contest, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Her performance continued a strong season, as she became the fourth player in Elon University softball history to reach 30 or more career hits.
Campbell took an early lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Fighting Camels added another in the third and two more in the fifth to build a 5-0 advantage. Elon answered with two runs in the top of the sixth, but could not close the gap further.
On the mound, Elon’s starting pitcher worked five innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Campbell’s pitcher earned the win, throwing six shutout innings before yielding the two late runs.
