An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the death of an employee at a Lustucru Premium Groupe factory in the Rhône department of southeastern France, following an accident at the facility. The incident occurred at the company’s largest production site, which manufactures pasta and related food products under the Lustucru brand.

Local authorities, including judicial police and labor inspectors, are examining the scene and reviewing workplace safety protocols to determine the exact causes and conditions that led to the fatality. The public prosecutor’s office in Lyon has confirmed that a preliminary inquiry is underway, though no further details about the victim or the nature of the accident have been released at this stage.

Lustucru Premium Groupe, a major player in France’s packaged food industry, issued a brief statement expressing condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased employee. The company said We see fully cooperating with investigators and has launched its own internal review to assess whether any safety procedures were not followed or require improvement.

The factory in question, located in the Rhône-Alpes region, is one of the group’s key operational centers and employs several hundred workers. It plays a central role in the production of fresh and dried pasta products distributed across France and exported to other European markets.

Workplace safety officials have noted that while serious accidents in food manufacturing plants are relatively rare, they can occur due to machinery operation, conveyor systems, or exposure to industrial equipment in high-volume production environments. Investigators will consider whether training, maintenance schedules, or emergency response protocols played a role in the incident.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed. The investigation remains active, with authorities expected to take several weeks to complete forensic analysis, interview witnesses, and review surveillance footage from the site. Lustucru has not disclosed whether production has been halted at the facility pending the outcome of the inquiry.

The incident adds to ongoing scrutiny of industrial safety standards in France’s food processing sector, particularly in large-scale facilities where automation and manual labor intersect. Regulatory bodies may use the findings from this case to inform future inspections or guidance for similar enterprises.
