Apple’s Photos app in iOS 26 gains a new feature that automatically organizes photos from concerts, sporting events, and other major gatherings. Announced at WWDC25, the update also brings back a tab bar layout and allows users to create spatial scenes from existing photos.
Beyond those headline changes, iOS 26’s Photos app intelligently identifies events and groups related photos together. It then provides relevant details about those events.
Here’s how it effectively works:
- Concerts: The app displays the setlist, performing artists, venue details, related playlists, and upcoming concert dates.
- Sporting Events: Users will see a scoreboard, venue details, and a schedule of future games.
Recognized events get a special “ticket” button instead of the usual info icon. Tapping this button opens a new events panel. memories within the Collections tab will also be labeled with the specific event name – like the concert or game you attended.

These changes, alongside the return of the tab bar, represent a meaningful update to the Photos app experience in iOS 26.
