James Blake Announces North American Tour, New Album ‘Trying Times’

James Blake has unveiled plans for a 2026 North American tour in support of his upcoming seventh studio album, Trying Times, set for release on March 13 via Good Boy Records. The announcement comes alongside the release of his new single, “I Had A Dream She Took My Hand,” a track described as a romantic waltz.

The new album marks Blake’s first independent studio release, following his departure from Republic Records two years ago. “I Had A Dream She Took My Hand” samples Thee Sinseers’ 2019 track “It Was …”.

The song opens with a stripped-back, melancholic melody and features Blake’s haunting vocals. The lyrics explore themes of longing and uncertainty, with lines like “I had a dream she took my hand/I feel higher than storms, lighter than sand (It was only a dream),” and “Oh, This represents love/ Let’s stay up/ Can we stay here?/ She didn’t know.” The emotional core of the song, and the album as a whole, balances optimism with unease, holding onto moments of solitude.

A live performance video of “I Had A Dream She Took My Hand,” directed by Harrison and Adair, has also been released.

The North American tour kicks off on May 27 in Atlanta, Georgia, at The Tabernacle. The tour includes two performances at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York City on May 29 and 30, with further stops in Boston, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and a single Canadian date in Toronto at the HISTORY venue on June 6.
