Lamborghini Crash in Kanpur Injures Pedestrian, Sparks Investigation
Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh – A Lamborghini sports car veered onto a footpath in Kanpur on Monday, February 9, 2026, injuring a pedestrian and raising questions about the driver’s medical condition. The incident occurred on an express road near the Gwal Toli area, according to police reports.
The driver, identified as Shivam, son of tobacco trader A.K. Mishra, reportedly experienced dizziness and a seizure while behind the wheel. Despite the medical episode, he attempted to steer the vehicle away from oncoming traffic and onto the footpath, minimizing potential harm. However, during this maneuver, the Lamborghini struck Taufiq Ahmed, a pedestrian, and also collided with an autorickshaw.
Eyewitnesses suggested the outcome could have been far more severe. “Given the kind of car it was, many lives could have been at risk if it had not been brought under control in time,” a local resident said.
FIR Registered, Medical Claims Under Scrutiny
Deputy Commissioner of Police Central, Atul Srivastava, confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered based on a complaint received following the incident. “A case has been lodged and the vehicle has been taken into custody,” he stated.
Authorities are currently investigating the driver’s claim of experiencing a seizure. “We are verifying whether the person driving the car actually suffers from seizures,” Srivastava added. The Lamborghini has been impounded at the Gwal Toli police station as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident drew a crowd of onlookers, and reports emerged alleging that bouncers associated with Mishra appeared more focused on securing the vehicle than attending to the injured pedestrian. This has prompted criticism from local residents.
Injured Pedestrian Receives Treatment
Taufiq Ahmed, the pedestrian injured in the crash, was transported to a hospital for treatment. His condition is currently reported as stable. Ahmed stated that the car suddenly came towards him while he was standing on the footpath.
Police confirmed that one person was injured and receiving medical attention. “The vehicle has been taken into custody and kept at the police station. Action will be taken based on the application received,” Srivastava said. “We are also verifying whether the person driving the car actually suffers from seizures.”
The incident highlights the potential dangers of operating high-performance vehicles, particularly when a driver has a known medical condition. The investigation is expected to shed light on whether appropriate precautions were taken and whether any negligence contributed to the crash. Further details are awaited as the police continue their inquiry.
