Kansas State Faces Uphill Battle at TCU

The Kansas State Wildcats (10-12 1-8 in Big 12 play) are struggling through one of the most challenging seasons in program history, and face a tough test Saturday afternoon against the TCU Horned Frogs (13-9, 3-6 Big 12) in Fort Worth, Texas. The game is scheduled for a February 7th tipoff at 1:07 PM CT from Schollmaier Arena.

The Wildcats have shown a concerning trend of decline, even before factoring in recent injuries. The team’s current record reflects a significant downturn, and observers are questioning the direction of the program. Adding to the frustration, some feel the coaching staff is deflecting accountability while simultaneously creating a financial hurdle with a buyout currently exceeding $18 million.

TCU, while not considered a dominant force, presents a solid challenge on its home court. Analysts anticipate the Horned Frogs will control the tempo and maintain a comfortable lead throughout the contest.

How to Watch and Listen

The game will be broadcast on TNT/truTV/HBO Max, with Spero Dedes handling play-by-play, Greg Anthony providing analysis, and Jared Greenberg reporting from the sidelines. For those without access to TNT, the game can be heard across the 28-station K-State Sports Network. Wyatt Thompson and Stan Weber will call the action on the radio broadcast.

Fans can also stream the game online at K-Statesports.com and through the Varsity Network app. Sirius/XM Channel 392 will also carry the audio broadcast. Live statistics will be available at k-statesports.com, and updates will be posted on the team’s official social media account, @KStateMBB.

Recent results haven’t been kind to Kansas State. On February 1st, the Wildcats fell to Iowa State 95-61. Prior to that, on January 31st, West Virginia defeated K-State 59-54. Earlier in January, Kansas defeated K-State 86-62 on January 24th. A hard-fought 81-78 win over Utah on January 21st offered a brief respite, but the team has struggled to maintain consistency.

Looking back further, K-State suffered a heartbreaking 63-62 loss to TCU on January 4th, 2025, after Max Jones’ 3-pointer gave the Wildcats a late lead. TCU closed the game on a 7-0 run, securing the victory. Noah Reynolds led TCU with 18 points in that contest.

Despite the challenges, the K-State faithful remain hopeful. The team will need a strong performance to overcome the Horned Frogs and begin to turn their season around.
