Lakers’ Jaxson Hayes Suspended for Mascot Push During Wizards Game

Los Angeles Lakers forward Jaxson Hayes will miss Thursday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers after receiving a one-game suspension from the NBA for pushing a Washington Wizards mascot during pregame introductions on January 30th. The league announced the punishment on February 4th.

The incident occurred as G-Wiz, the Wizards’ mascot, was running onto the court with a large flag. Video footage shows Hayes intentionally shoulder into the mascot, sending G-Wiz stumbling and colliding with members of the Wizards’ dance team. The league deemed the action a violation of its standards of conduct.
