LAS VEGAS — A late-night altercation in downtown Las Vegas has left one man dead and another hospitalized, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday in the area of Stewart Avenue and 3rd Street, near Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street. Police responded after both men arrived at separate local hospitals with injuries consistent with sharp force trauma.

Lieutenant Monique Rodriguez of the LVMPD stated that the fight appears to have stemmed from “an issue over disrespect.” The argument escalated quickly, resulting in fatal injuries for one of the men, who has been identified as being in his 20s.

The sequence of events began when an off-duty LVMPD officer, driving on M.L.K. Boulevard, noticed a vehicle traveling erratically with visible blood on its exterior. The officer followed the vehicle to a hospital, where the first victim was admitted with multiple stab wounds. Shortly after, a second individual arrived at another hospital also suffering from sharp force injuries.

Despite medical intervention, the first victim succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the surviving individual remains undisclosed. Police have stated they do not believe there are any outstanding suspects at this time.

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fight. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section at 702-828-3521. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

This incident raises concerns about safety in the downtown Las Vegas entertainment district, particularly during late-night hours. The area, known for its vibrant nightlife, has seen increased scrutiny regarding security measures in recent years.

The investigation continues as police gather evidence and interview potential witnesses. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
