Agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) Child Victims Unit executed an arrest warrant at 9:23 a.m. On April 8 at 703 W. Third St. In Oakley. Dees, a resident of WaKeeney, was arrested on charges involving 21 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Following the arrest, Dees was booked into the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office Jail. Formal charges remain pending.
Investigation Timeline
The legal proceedings began on April 4, 2025, when the WaKeeney Police Department requested that the KBI investigate a case involving the solicitation of a minor.
The WaKeeney Police Department had been initially contacted regarding the case by the St. Croix Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin. During the subsequent investigation, authorities discovered evidence of child sexual abuse material on electronic devices belonging to Dees.
The KBI has stated that the investigation is ongoing.
