Nebraska’s football program is expanding its 2027 tight end recruiting board after missing out on top targets and seeing momentum fade with other prospects, according to recent developments in the recruiting cycle.
The Huskers had initially prioritized two of the top tight end prospects in the 2027 class but have since broadened their approach following changes in the recruitment landscape. Cooper Terwilliger, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end from Pierre, South Dakota, committed to Penn State on April 13, 2026, choosing the Nittany Lions over Notre Dame. Terwilliger is ranked as a top-10 tight end in the 2027 class by Rivals and was once viewed as a prospect with a strong Nebraska lean, though momentum did not fully develop in his recruitment.
Nebraska’s pursuit of Ahmad Hudson, a four-star tight end from Ruston, Louisiana and the top-ranked tight end in the Rivals industry rankings, has seen diminishing momentum. Hudson, who is also considered a top 2027 basketball prospect, visited Nebraska in the spring and returned for events including the Battle at the Boneyard tournament and the Hudl Futures Forum in June 2025. While he has maintained a long-standing relationship with Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor, the Huskers face stiff competition from LSU, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Ohio State in his recruitment.
In response to these developments, Nebraska has extended new offers to other prospects. Most recently, the program offered a scholarship to Parker Newman, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound three-star tight end from Sevier County, Tennessee. Newman received the offer on April 17, 2026, joining 27 other Division I programs already involved in his recruitment. Early indications from On3’s prediction metrics favor Duke and Penn State, though Newman has not yet made multiple visits to any program, leaving the recruitment open.
Nebraska’s tight end room is set to return Luke Lindenmeyer, an honorable-mention All-Big Ten performer who recorded career highs in 2025 with 29 receptions and 312 receiving yards. Lindenmeyer, a La Vista, Nebraska native who began his career as a walk-on, has one year of eligibility remaining and is viewed as a key returning piece for the position group. The program also retains the commitment of 2026 tight end Luke Sorensen as they look to add at least one dynamic weapon behind him in the 2027 class.
With national programs such as Michigan, Texas Tech, Ohio State, and Alabama also involved in the recruitment of prospects like Newman, Nebraska is navigating a competitive landscape as it seeks to secure a tight end for the 2027 class. The staff, led by tight ends coach Marcus Satterfield, continues to evaluate options as the recruiting process unfolds.
