Nebraska Women’s Gymnastics Adds NCAA Champion Jordan Gamboa to Coaching Staff

Head Coach Nicole Jones added Jordan (Bowers) Gamboa to the Nebraska women’s gymnastics coaching staff on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Gamboa, a native of Lincoln, returns to her hometown after a distinguished collegiate career at Oklahoma, where she competed as Jordan Bowers.

The appointment brings a high level of championship experience to the Huskers program. Gamboa was the 2025 NCAA All-Around Champion and played a key role in helping the Oklahoma Sooners secure three NCAA team titles during her tenure in Norman.

Elite Collegiate Accolades

Gamboa’s 2025 season was particularly decorated. In addition to her NCAA All-Around title, she was named the 2025 SEC Gymnast of the Year and received the 2025 Honda Sports Award for Women’s Gymnastics.

She was also recognized as one of six finalists for the AAI Award during that period.

Beyond her all-around success, Gamboa excelled in individual events. She was a three-time NCAA runner-up on the floor exercise and earned two NCAA bronze medals on the uneven bars.

Her overall collegiate resume includes the following achievements:

• 28-time All-American
• Eight-time NCAA Regional champion
• Seven-time Big 12 Conference individual champion
• Two-time Big 12 All-Around champion (2023 and 2024)
• Big 12 floor exercise title winner in 2023

Local Ties and Program Impact

Born and raised in Lincoln, Gamboa attended Southwest High School. Her return to the city is viewed by the coaching staff as a strategic advantage for both current student-athletes and future recruits.

Jones further noted that Gamboa will serve as a powerful connection point for recruits who want to come to Lincoln and act as a bridge for student-athletes to relate to, learn from, and grow alongside.

Personal Background

Following the conclusion of her career at Oklahoma, Gamboa married Raydel Gamboa in June 2025. Raydel Gamboa is a former Oklahoma All-America men’s gymnast and a 2022 NCAA All-Around bronze medalist.

Gamboa’s collegiate career was developed under the guidance of Coach K.J. Kindler at Oklahoma before she transitioned into her new role on the Nebraska staff.
