The announcement, made on Thursday, April 16, 2026, includes a total of $3.4 million in grants distributed to 44 law enforcement agencies in 28 counties through the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.
Since the program launched in 2021, officials report that more than $87 million has been awarded to over 200 law enforcement agencies statewide.
The funding is set to support initiatives such as investigative overtime, new technology, and targeted patrols in high-crime areas.

Among the recipients of the grants, law enforcement agencies from the Miami Valley region were also part of the funding, including: Dayton Police Department: $160,000; Fairborn Police Department: $34,604.38; Greene County Sheriff’s Office: $42,247.93; Logan County Sheriff’s Office: $57,000; Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office: $73,648.
Governor DeWine commented on the efforts saying, “There is no shortage of innovative ideas that our local law enforcement agencies are using to combat violent crime in their communities. Their work to implement crime-fighting technology and tactics is making Ohio safer.”
The grants are set to be funded through the state’s 2026-2027 operating budget.
