The Indonesian Presidential Palace has indicated that Said Iqbal, the leader of the Labor Party (Partai Buruh) and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), may be appointed to a position within President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) provided the signal regarding the possibility of Iqbal joining the “Red and White Cabinet” (Kabinet Merah Putih), according to reports from CNBC Indonesia and SINDOnews.
According to Kompas.com, the potential role for Said Iqbal would be specifically related to labor affairs, reflecting his leadership roles in both the labor union sector and the political sphere.
The Palace also addressed the status of Silmy Karim. CNN Indonesia reported that the Palace stated there has been no replacement for Karim, while simultaneously remaining open to the possibility of Said Iqbal joining the government.
Said Iqbal currently serves as the head of the Labor Party and leads the KSPI, positioning him as a prominent figure in Indonesia’s labor movement.
