and a lack of pharmacy access, according to local officials.
Mayor Al Muelhoefer stated that the loss of the city’s only grocery store has had a significant impact on local residents. The establishment, Ray’s Food Place, was located along Highway 99.
According to reporting from the Rogue Valley Times, Ray’s Food Place was operated for decades by the Medford-based C&K Market Inc. The grocery store closed its doors in late February.
Retail Vacancies
The closure of the grocery store is accompanied by the shuttering of a Rite Aid pharmacy located adjacent to the former Ray’s Food Place. The vacancy of these two large anchor businesses has left a gap in services near the north entrance to Phoenix.

City officials have expressed concern regarding the lack of available locations for residents to purchase food and access pharmaceutical services.
