The 2025/26 Premier League season is drawing to a close, with clubs across England preparing for significant squad changes as numerous players approach the end of their contracts. As of April 21, 2026, more than 60 players from the top flight are set to become free agents on June 30, according to the latest assessments from BBC Sport and ESPN.

Among the most notable names facing an uncertain future are Manchester City’s John Stones and Bernardo Silva, Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier and Manchester United’s Casemiro. These players have either confirmed their departure or are being strongly linked with moves away from their current clubs when their deals expire.

Bernardo Silva, the Manchester City captain and six-time Premier League winner, has already announced his intention to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer. His exit would mark the end of an influential era at the club, where he has been a central figure in Pep Guardiola’s most successful teams. Similarly, Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, a key figure under Jürgen Klopp, is reportedly in advanced talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential transfer.

When Harry Maguire signed a new Manchester United contract this month, the experienced England defender removed himself from the list of this summer’s potential free agents.

Defensive stalwarts are also among those whose futures remain unresolved. John Stones, despite his injury-plagued season, continues to be linked with a potential departure from Manchester City, while Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier has confirmed he will leave St James’ Park when his contract expires. Manchester United’s Casemiro, who joined the club in 2022, is also set to depart Old Trafford this summer.

Beyond the high-profile cases, squad depth is set to be tested across the league. Arsenal face minimal concerns, with only goalkeeper Karl Hein set to become a free agent, having spent the season on loan at Werder Bremen. Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, reported no immediate contract worries, with their first-team squad secured through at least 2027, although earlier suggestions about Ross Barkley’s status were clarified after he signed a new deal upon joining from Luton Town in July 2024.

At the other end of the spectrum, Sunderland are facing the most significant turnover, with eight players out of contract, including Dennis Cirkin and Dan Neil. Nottingham Forest have two players set to leave — Angus Gunn and Willy Boly — while Brentford face the departure of three out-of-contract players: Rico Henry, Mathias Jensen, and Josh Dasilva, the latter of whom is continuing his recovery at the club’s performance centre pending a decision on his future.

Brighton & Hove Albion have five players approaching contract expiry, including experienced campaigners Lewis Dunk and James Milner, alongside Adam Webster, Solly March, and Joël Veltman. Everton also face potential losses of five players: Vitaliy Mykolenko, Michael Keane, Idrissa Gueye, Harry Tyrer, and Seamus Coleman. Chelsea, surprisingly, have no senior players set to become free agents this summer.

Crystal Palace will see four players depart, including Daichi Kamada, Jefferson Lerma, Nathaniel Clyne, and Naouirou Ahamada. Fulham’s outgoing contingent consists of Raúl Jiménez and Tom Cairney, while Leeds United could lose four players: Illan Meslier, Sam Byram, Karl Darlow, and Alex Cairns.

Liverpool, beyond Robertson, have four additional players set to leave: Ibrahima Konaté, Trey Nyoni, Freddie Woodman, and Rhys Williams. Manchester City, aside from Stones and Silva, will lose goalkeeper Stefan Ortega and Marcus Bettinelli. Newcastle United, beyond Trippier, face the potential loss of Nick Pope, Fabian Schär, Jamal Lascelles, Emil Krafth, and Mark Gillespie.

With less than five weeks remaining in the Premier League season, clubs are accelerating their planning for the summer transfer window. The concentration of available talent on free transfers presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly for teams looking to rebuild or strengthen specific areas without incurring transfer fees.

As the season concludes, the coming weeks will determine which of these outgoing players secure new moves and which clubs successfully retain key members of their squads. The summer of 2026 is poised to reshape numerous Premier League rosters, with contract expirations playing a central role in the upcoming transfer activity.
