SAG-AFTRA has announced the dates for the 33rd and 34th annual Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards. The announcement follows the Academy’s reveal of the schedules for the 99th and 100th Oscars ceremonies.
The 33rd Annual Actor Awards will stream live on Netflix on Sunday, February 28, 2027, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. This date falls exactly two weeks before the 99th annual Academy Awards, which are scheduled to air on March 14, 2027.
The organization also confirmed that the 34th Annual Actor Awards will take place on Sunday, February 20, 2028. The 100th Oscars ceremony will follow two weeks later on March 5, 2028.
These upcoming ceremonies mark the fourth and fifth years of the ongoing partnership between SAG-AFTRA and Netflix, aimed at maintaining global accessibility for the event.
Industry Influence and Voting Process
The Actor Awards are regarded as a primary bellwether for the Academy Awards acting and Best Picture races. This influence was evident during the most recent awards cycle, where all four individual winners repeated their success at the Oscars.
The winners are chosen by eligible performers within SAG-AFTRA’s membership, which consists of more than 160,000 members. This represents the largest voting body in the awards landscape, offering a reflection of industry sentiment across 15 different film and television categories.
