A motorcycle crash in a residential neighborhood in west Bexar County on April 2, 2026, resulted in a fiery explosion that narrowly missed a group of children on a nearby sidewalk.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Oakwood Crest and Wooden Fox, located just off Marbach Road in San Antonio. Home surveillance footage captured the moment the motorcycle entered the area at a high rate of speed before losing control.
Crash Sequence and Near Miss
The recorded footage shows a group of four children on the sidewalk who began sprinting away from the intersection as the motorcycle approached rapidly. The motorcycle subsequently struck a curb and burst into flames, creating a fireball.
The driver was flung into the fire after the impact. Following the explosion, the driver was seen running across the street while on fire toward a playground at the nearby Stone Creek Park, stumbling multiple times during the process.
Other drivers in the vicinity pulled over to provide assistance to both the motorcyclist and the children who had been fleeing the crash site.
Injuries and Emergency Response
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported that the driver was transported to a local hospital suffering from second-degree burns. Authorities confirmed that none of the children involved in the near-miss were injured.

Neighbors attempted to extinguish the flames using a garden hose before first responders arrived at the scene.

Perez described the event as a very close call
for the children who were standing nearby when the motorcycle erupted into flames.
In the wake of the accident, residents of the West Side neighborhood have urged local authorities to install speed bumps to prevent similar high-speed incidents in the residential area.
