Toronto police have arrested three men and are searching for a fourth suspect in connection with a series of carjackings that took place across the city between March 26 and April 3, 2026.
The incidents occurred in the Midtown and East York areas, with authorities confirming at least four known carjackings and vehicle thefts during that period. Surveillance footage played a key role in the investigation, showing the suspects involved in multiple offences.
In one case, police reported that the suspects forcibly removed a woman from her vehicle and stole the car. In another incident, detectives said the group assaulted a woman, stole her purse and car keys, and fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. Three of the thefts happened in broad daylight, while at least one occurred around 2 a.m.
The investigation gained momentum on April 5 when police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue East. During the stop, officers arrested three men. The Toronto Police Service has not released the identities of the suspects but confirmed their ages as 18, 19, and 21.
Charges laid against the three arrested individuals include possession of a device for the purpose of committing theft, possession of a break-in instrument, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. One suspect remains at large and is actively being sought by investigators.
Police have stated they are withholding the identities of the victims to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. The investigation is still active, and authorities continue to gather evidence and pursue leads related to the series of incidents.
