San Francisco defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 in the opening game of their series at Oracle Park on Tuesday night, taking an early lead with a three-run first inning that proved decisive.

The Giants struck quickly in the bottom of the first inning, with Rafael Devers driving in the first run on an RBI single after a walk and a base hit loaded the bases. Casey Schmitt followed with a sacrifice fly that extended the lead to 2-0, and Jung Hoo Lee added another RBI single to make it 3-0 before the Dodgers could record an out.

Starter Landen Roupp delivered a strong performance for San Francisco, pitching five innings in which he struck out seven batters and allowed only one run on a single hit. Although he issued five walks — a season-high — he managed to work through jams, including striking out the side in the third inning, which included a swinging strikeout of Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani, who entered the game with a 52-game on-base streak, went hitless in his first three at-bats before breaking the sequence with a seventh-inning single. That hit extended his on-base streak to 53 games, tying Shawn Green for second place on the Dodgers’ all-time list.

After Roupp’s departure, the Giants’ bullpen held firm, combining for four scoreless innings. Ryan Walker recorded the final three outs in the ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn his second save of the season, having blown his first save opportunity earlier in the week against the Washington Nationals.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto took the loss for Los Angeles, allowing three earned runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out four and walking two. The Dodgers managed only three hits in the game, tying a season-low for hits allowed by the Giants’ pitching staff.

The victory improved San Francisco’s record to 10-13 and marked their fourth win in the last five games. It also lifted their season run differential to a positive margin after beginning the year 6-12. The game was played in front of a sellout crowd of 40,066 at Oracle Park, with a brief rain delay in the sixth inning that did not halt play.
