Six members of the No. 3 Maryland women’s lacrosse team earned IWLCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors, the organization announced on May 14, 2026.

The recognition includes four players selected for the First Team and two players named to the Second Team. Kori Edmondson, Maddy Sterling, Lauren LaPointe, and JJ Suriano earned First Team honors, while Kristen Shanahan and Kayla Gilmore received Second Team recognition.

The IWLCA recognized a total of 128 Division I student-athletes across the 2026 All-Region teams. These selected athletes are now eligible for the national IWLCA All-American teams, which are scheduled to be announced on May 21, 2026.

Kori Edmondson has secured IWLCA Mid-Atlantic First Team honors for the second consecutive season. Her current campaign is marked by several high-level accolades, including unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition for a second straight year and First Team All-American honors from USA Lacrosse for the second consecutive season.

The senior played a versatile role on the field, ranking second on the team with 71 draw controls. She also ranked third on the team in scoring, recording 59 points consisting of 46 goals and 13 assists.

Additional honors for Edmondson include a spot on the Big Ten All-Tournament Team and being named a Tewaaraton Top 25 finalist. She entered the program as the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class and currently holds the 27th highest rank in program history with 217 career points.

Following her collegiate success, Edmondson was selected fourth overall in the first round of the professional draft by the New York Charging.

Junior JJ Suriano also earned significant recognition this season, being named the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year. She is the seventh player in Maryland history to win the award since the program joined the conference.

Suriano led the Big Ten in several key statistical categories, including total saves with 207 and saves per game at 9.73. She also led the conference in save percentage.

The Mid-Atlantic All-Region selections highlight the depth of the No. 3 ranked Terrapins roster as they transition toward the national All-American evaluations.
